Swiss Bianco Newsletter Issue 2011, vol. 3 |
Greetings from Switzerland! In the last couple of weeks I had great meetings with Victorinox, Wenger, and Mr. Fischlin (the manufacturer of our firesteel attachment), and now I am preparing for the trip back to USA and the Blade Show, where Swissbianco will have a booth, so please come and visit!
I was sad to find out that both Victorinox and Wenger have now stopped manufacturing of the Soldier/SI model - I still remember the day when I got my standard issued Soldier at the beginning of my Swiss military service! To commemorate the 50-year anniversary of "model 1961 Soldier's Knife", we made a special limited run of alox Soldiers, featured in this newsletter.

Our new commemorative 2011 Silver Alox Soldier features the red Victorinox shield, engraving plate on the back scale,
and a special etching on the blade, "1961 - 2011 anniversary alox soldier's sak".
This special run, celebrating 50 years from the first issue of this classic SAK is limited to 35 pieces. The price is $38 each. |

These unique single pieces feature scales anodised different colour, with Soldier tool configuration
and the same commemorative "1961-2011" blade etching as the 2011 silver alox Soldier. Pieces marked with "F" in the picture feature fileworked main blades with "08" (2008) yearstamp - the last year alox Soldiers were produced. The filework is done by Tom Stratton. The 22 pieces you see in the picture is all that was made. All of these coloured SAKs will be shipped in an special Victorinox logo box. The price is $85 each for non-fileworked models and $100 each for fileworked ones. Please refer to the number in the picture when inquiring/ordering. |

| In Switzerland Victorinox will make a run of coloured paring and serrated steak knives. I love the look of orange ones. If you are interested in picking up one (or half-dozen!), please contact me for prices and availability. The release date for these is set for May. |

We just got in stock some nice Victorinox shield pins in classic red version and the new black one.
These are nicely made, in metal and enamel. These, of course, ship free with any SAK order.

Soon I'm back in the USA and at the Blade Show we will assemble some SAK in
front of interested people. By then we will also have another SAK run in 2 different colors,
